Learning about a healthy smile, at every age
At De Mond van Leiden, we believe that good oral care begins with knowledge and awareness. That is why we provide guest lessons and educational programs at schools and childcare centers. We make oral health understandable, fun, and accessible to every age group, from young children to teenagers of secondary school age. Our goal is to provide insight into the importance of a healthy mouth in a positive and interactive way, and to help children build good habits for the future.
A suitable approach for every age
No group is the same, and therefore not a single lesson with us is identical.
We provide education for:
- daycare centers
- primary schools (all groups)
- secondary schools
- special education (fully tailored)
Each session is tailored to:
- age and world of experience
- attention span
- prior knowledge
- group dynamics
- current themes in oral care and health
- current themes within the school
This way, every session remains understandable, interactive, and engaging.
Interactive and practice-oriented guest lecture
Our guest lesson is not a standard presentation, but an interactive experience in which children actively participate and discover.
We make use of:
- mouth models and demonstration materials
- visual explanation of teeth and gums
- interactive assignments and examples
- playful quiz questions and explanation
- a little surprise for the children
Children are invited to ask questions, contribute ideas, and learn in an accessible way how their mouths work and how they can keep them healthy.
Further depth: the brushing lesson
In addition to the guest lesson, we offer a practical brushing lesson in which children actually learn how to take good care of their teeth.
During this session, children learn:
- how they brush correctly
- how often and how long they have to brush
- how cavities can be prevented
- how to keep gums healthy
During the brushing lesson:
- we provide personal guidance during cleaning
- Children practice the brushing technique step by step.
- every child receives individual feedback and tips
- we will prepare a short report with findings and advice for home
This approach ensures that knowledge is directly converted into behavior.
Practical visit: learning by experience
In addition to our programs at school, we can also organize a practice visit. During a visit to our practice, students are introduced to oral care in a real healthcare environment in a calm and positive manner.

We deliberately work in small groups so that there is sufficient personal attention for every child.
A carefree program for schools and parents
We understand that schools and parents need clear, well-organized programs. That is why we can take the entire process off your hands and ensure complete execution during school hours. This makes it accessible for schools and ensures that children are introduced to oral care in a natural way.
Reimbursement and costs
For children and young people up to 18 years of age, many preventive oral care treatments are in most cases fully reimbursed under the basic insurance.
This often applies to parts such as:
- checks
- oral hygiene guidance
- dental cleanings
- brushing lessons
We always clearly inform schools and parents in advance about the content and any conditions, so that everything is transparent and clear.
Our programs
Package 1 – Guest lecture + personal brushing lesson
A combination of theory and practice in which children also learn to brush their own teeth.

Costs: The brushing lesson is an oral care treatment and is not funded by the school. For children up to 18 years of age, this care is in most cases fully reimbursed through basic health insurance.
Package 2 – Complete Oral Care Day
An extensive education and practical program with a full introduction to oral care.
Possible components:
- guest lecture at school
- brushing lesson at school
- oral health check
- Dental cleaning at our practice
- tour of the practice
- surprise for all participants
Children are supervised in small groups or pairs for optimal attention.
Costs: Educational components are free of charge. Dental treatments are billed at standard rates, but for children under 18, they are often fully reimbursed through basic insurance.
